After many years of working with ABB, GEDLux Control Systems has made the move to become an authorized ABB Value Provider (AVP), licensed to sell and install ABB’s substation automation products. Under the terms of the agreement, GEDLux, which specializes in control systems for electrical substations, will offer ABB’s MicroSCADA Pro, Relion® 650 and 670 series, and COMBIFLEX relays.
As an AVP, GEDLux will benefit from membership of a select group of companies, distinguished by their deep understanding of ABB technologies and their application in a range of situations. ABB’s AVPs also have extensive experience in meeting the needs of their customers and a thorough knowledge of the markets they serve
To earn the right to become an authorized member of the Value Provide Program (VPP), GEDLux went through a training and validation process. This ensured that the necessary skills were in place before AVP status was awarded.
With its new status, GEDLux is now authorized to integrate ABB substation automation products into their own system and carry out support for MicroSCADA Pro SYS600/SYS600C, MicroSCADA Pro DMS, the Relion® 650 series and 670 series, as well as COMBIFLEX and COMBITEST.
Access to these ABB products, and the right to use ABB branding on its company signage, give GEDLux an advantage. They also gain access to ABB’s support network, available through the VPP, should they need additional assistance.
For ABB, GEDLux has opened new opportunities with independent electricity distributors in Spain, a specialist group that just a few years ago felt that products from ABB were out of their reach. With the help of ABB, GEDLux showed these companies that ABB was providing cost-effective products that stand the test of time, in terms of both reliability and technology improvements.
Claus Vetter, manager of ABB’s Substation Automation Products group, and Olav Lundström, the MicroSCADA Sales and Marketing manager, both travelled to Spain to celebrate with GEDLux. They delivered the AVP welcome pack, which included new signage and a certificate to publicize GEDLux’s new status.
“It’s very rare to see our General Manager as excited as he was when he saw the ‘Authorized Value Provider’ sign in our office,” said Adam Barwick, Marketing Manager of GEDLux. “He was lost for words, but clearly very happy. We now feel we are part of the ABB family.”
ABB’s Value Provider Program is a global, Group-wide organization of channel partners. In addition to the training and validation program, GEDLux was also supported by their channel managers, Robert Ström in Finland and Mats Andersson in Sweden, who gave them quick replies to their questions and guided them through the process.
“We hope that GEDLux will be the first of many AVPs for our business unit, “said Claus Vetter. “It’s a win-win for us and for the partners, and it’s another way for customers to access our portfolio.”
